During this past month at Mercersburg Academy, a tree planting event was held.
I was fortunate enough to attend, and loved that it gave me a chance to become more involved in the community. The campus is home to a copious amount of beautiful trees, but there was a large field at the far end of campus. With the help of a few faculty members and student volunteers, we were able to completely fill this area with seedlings ("baby trees").
When I come back to campus later in life, it will be exciting to see the growth of these trees and the impact we made on the community. What was just as uplifting, was seeing how happy everyone was with the work we were doing. It really brought everyone together. In planting trees, we were creating positive change and that felt good! My friends and I had so much fun working with everyone to complete this project and I'm so proud of what we accomplished. It was a reminder that no action to make our planet "cleaner and greener" is too small. It's also a reminder to get involved in your local and/or school community. Exemplifying a love for our planet will inspire others to take action. Whether it impacts thousands of lives, or just one, it is worth it.
