I am happy to announce that it has been 3 years since we launched Cleaner Greener Planet. Earth Day, every April 22, is the day we celebrate the earth, giving thanks for the many benefits we receive from our planet. It is also a day to personally renew our pledge to take care of the planet so it will remain vibrant and healthy for generations to come.
Earth Day began on April 22, 1970. That date marks the beginning of the environmental movement in the United States. However, Earthday.org actually credits Rachel Carson's bestselling book, Silent Spring, which illustrates the deadly dangers of pesticides, with ushering in the modern environmental movement. Carson's book made the public aware of how human made products, such as DDT, were harming the environment and throwing off the balance of nature. The book also shows what sort of future we would face if we did not make changes.
What we at Cleaner Greener Planet wish for our readers on Earth Day 2024 is that you all get outside and appreciate the beauty all around us. Look at the trees. Take a minute to look at some flowers. Stop and smell them. Notice the birds in the sky. Hear them singing. Feel the warmth of the sun, or the coolness of the rain on your face. Whether you are in the city, the country, the mountains or near the coast, there is beautiful nature all around. Take a moment today to appreciate it. The will to take care of this planet begins with developing a deep love of it. If enough of us love and appreciate the earth, the environment, the wildlife...together we will make sure it is protected.
